70-Day Challenge To Change Everything

This year seems to be racing. Nobody knows where it’s going, but it surely is passing us by like never before. Days, weeks, months have gone by in what feels like a blink of an eye and it’s all pretty blurry. Wait what happened last week? Was it Easter? It was a big fat blur. So let’s start a 70-day challenge. It’s a little less than 70 days until the middle of the year today. Let’s do some things we actually intended to have achieved when we first went into 2020 with hopes and big dreams. Nobody expected the big beating that this year has been. So far.

We don’t know how long this season will last and we don’t know what the actual game plan is, but we have to take care of ourselves – of our mental and physical health.

Let’s find ways to make this time more memorable (in a good way), let’s learn some new things and accomplish good things because before we know it, this season will be in the past. We need to make a choice whether we’ll remember it as a depressing season, or a season of opportunity and growth.

Why Start A Challenge?

If you have something better to do – don’t. We, personally need it. In the last few weeks, we kinda feel as if we've overdosed on media and negativity. We've been consuming more content than we did for the last 5 years combined. News, movies, Youtube clips…mostly news.

We need a challenge. We think we all need a good challenge. A few years ago we did a 66-day challenge to build some habits we wanted to have in our life. And we didn’t notice it back then, but that challenge helped us so much. That challenge was the reason we were able to change our life in so many positive ways last year. We had developed the habits…It wasn’t obvious when the challenge finished, but we were changed. We had more self-discipline and was more positive and responsible.

This time it’s 70 days. However many days you want it to be beyond 2 months. Doesn’t matter when you do it. It could be now, it could be next year. Whenever you decide.

What’s The Challenge?

The challenge is to work on key areas in your life and accomplish a goal or two you had set for yourself at the beginning of the year.

Here are the 5 areas to wok on:

  • fitness
  • eating healthy
  • work and money
  • personal development & self care
  • relationships

Our Goals

Here we're gonna share our own goals within these areas

Fitness

We’re lacking movement even more now and as we know from everywhere – exercise is important for your physical and mental health. We want to have more energy and feel good about myself – drink water, exercise, eat healthy (less bread and no cheese), get enough sleep and make a done list at the end of the day. So we’ll be starting a fitness challenge as well. We find myself CRAVING Pilates and barre workouts, so we feel like we want to explore these more. They need no equipment, are effective and there are so many resources online. Every week for the next 4 weeks we'll be sharing an at-home workout plan.

Healthy eating

We guess the good news is, now we all have a little bit more time to be cooking. And why not cook some healthy recipes and see how you like eating clean for a week? Healthy food is again important for your physical, but also mental health. Don’t forget to drink a lot of water too – we seem to have forgotten that water is also an option when you’re thirsty.

Relationships

Don’t know about you, but we're being pretty inconsiderate and annoyed with the people we love. We know it comes from being together all the time (that’s by choice, but after a while, you go crazy) and from not having time for myself and our goals. It also comes from not being present and living in the “online” world. So the two things we'll do here: 1. We'll find ways to be on our own (maybe wake up earlier than everyone else and create a morning routine) 2. Don’t use our phone and computer when we're around people we love and be present and engaged in our conversations.

Personal development & Self care

We want to read and listen to more positive books and media. Also at the beginning of the year, two of our goals were to learn Spanish and learn how to play guitar. We don’t need to go to courses or look for teachers. We can do both from home online – we'll need to figure out the time and go for it. Oh, and we need a guitar. As for self-care: we count doing our laundry, cleaning up and getting dressed in the morning right there. It’s sad, but it’s self-care redefined.

Work & Money

Our goal here is: stay creative, not workaholic. We are working from home, so this year wasn’t a huge change for us in that area. If you’ve been working from home for a while, you’d know it can consume a large part of your life and can steal your inner peace sometimes. You just need to get one more thing done…and then you’re sitting there for 10+ hours in physical pain. Our goal is to focus and do more of the things that keep us creative, happy, satisfied in our work and things that bring us results. Because unfortunately without results, at some point, you stop wanting to be creative and are simply stressed out. So for us that’s creating more recipes and recipe videos, writing blog posts and engaging with you (we've done a pretty horrible job at this one).

Set Your Goals

Now it’s time to set your own goals within those areas and write down the tasks that go with that goal. These days we'll be creating a workbook to help you if you need any help – we'll let you know when it’s ready.

We hope you’re up for the challenge we'll be back on Wednesday with the weekly workout plan!
