When we told our sister we're doing a 30-day burpee challenge she thought we're talking about burping.
Obviously, that’s something we want to DEFINITELY try later this year, but for now we'll stay with the 30-day burpee challenge.
You see these challenges everywhere, even with before and after pictures.
We always thought they’re so stupid. You do the same thing every day and call it a challenge? How about self-punishment?
But then we thought about it and decided, you know what, we hate burpees, but they make us feel good. They make us feel alive and proud and like our body can do things we didn’t expect from it. So we'll just do this stupid burpee challenge.
End of our own quotation.
Now, we're not delusional. We know we won’t lose belly fat doing 20 burpees every day.
What we're doing this challenge for is to:
- start liking burpees more
- develop some self-discipline
- get our body moving even when we don’t feel like doing anything
And also burpees work your entire body, make you stronger and are good for your cardiovascular health.
Our 30-day burpee challenge is simple. Start with 5 burpees and add one burpee each day.
So day 1: 5 burpees, day 2: 6, day 3: 7 and so on.
We're now up to 14 burpees and it’s getting challenging. The max we can do without taking a break is 13. So the next days will be exciting and miserable.
Life was good at 5 burpees. We'd wake up, do them half-asleep and then move on with our day. Now, we cannot do them half asleep, so we're worried. How is it going to work? Nobody knows.
Okay, so in other news we've also started a little raw vegan “diet”. We guess it’s not raw vegan, but more like a no cook vegan diet. For example if we have to choose between tomato paste and sun dried tomatoes, tomato paste any time. We choose the easier option. No way we're soaking and blending those sun dried tomatoes as well.
We decided to do this, because raw vegan is usually low-carb and full of antioxidants – solid to lose weight and to become healthier. And it’s satisfying.
Yes, these are raw falafels, so so good! We'll have to write down the recipe next time
There’s just one problem. Because it’s so cold right now, we just want to stay at home and eat pizza. Raw pizza is sad. It’s not pizza. We saw a recipe for a beet-crust pizza in a magazine the other day and cried invisible tears for 3 hours. Why?
Why not just eat pizza one time? Okay, so we actually ate 2 slices of pizza the one day. It’s fine, the goal is not to be solid, but to keep going.
But the last months physically we've been exhausted – bones, muscles, wrinkles, everything hurts. With this raw thing we want to start eating better and clear what needs to clear out of our body. And get used to eating MUCH healthier again. We'll keep this at least 10 days and will see from there.
Okay, so the burpee challenge in case you want to do it as well:
