Last week we were meeting with some friends at a bar and came right on time for happy hour.
All the cocktails were half price.

This is like a dream come true, only paying half price too much.
Some people dream of being gazillionaires – we dream of free cocktails and also of being a millionaire. So we're not that different than the rest of the world.
Except one time we arrived 15 minutes before the end of a happy hour and ordered 2 cocktails at once.
For myself.
Now you might think that’s embarrassing. But the question is: “Is it really embarrassing?”.
And the only right answer is

It’s genius.
Einstein would do the same.
But let’s get back to last week.
Since we don’t drink alcohol or at least we avoid it now, we just drank a Virgin Colada.
And then a Virgin Strawberry Colada.
Maybe it was all the excitement, but the cocktails tasted a little..well, different.
Might be that it was the first day of the bartender, might be the fact that they used buttermilk and not cream in our colada, or it might be that the happy hour had the alt name: Leftover Thursday.
This would at least explain the slice of lemon in our Virgin Colada.
Not hating on the happy hour though.
Whatever we were drinking was not a Virgin Colada, and definitely not a Strawberry Colada, but was not bad.
It was slightly less sweeter, which we loved, and it was just something different.
We came home inspired.
We've got leftovers. Lots of leftovers.
Next morning we made a reliable and probably healthiest Virgin Strawberry Colada with a tiny twist.
This turned out to be satisfying, that new bartender has some competition now.
BEAUTY AND HEALTH BENEFITS
This strawberry colada is probiotic, gluten-free, vegetarian, sugar-free and practically loaded with good stuff.
We must admit we didn’t use leftovers.
But this colada is a great way to use up some yogurt, that you might be having a hard time finishing, and of course fruits like bananas, oranges and lemons.
This smoothie is loaded with fiber, vitamin C, probiotics and they can improve your skin:
- fiber is important for getting rid of waste and toxins in your colon. These make your skin dull and dry
- vitamin C is required for the production of collagen and for the absorption of the antioxidant Selenium and beauty mineral iron. You can read more on the benefits of vitamin C for beauty here.
- the probiotics come from yogurt. Thanks to the kind-hearted bacteria (probiotics) inside, yogurt improves your immune system. These adorable bacteria can do some great stuff inside the gut like enhance digestion and absorption of nutrients – great news for your skin. The skin hates toxins and loves vitamins, minerals and phytochemicals from the plant ingredients of this smoothie.
On top yogurt is a great source of calcium, zinc, proteins and vitamin B12 – all of which are important for the maintenance of beautiful skin, strong nails and hair.
We must admit we are not a big yogurt eater and maybe that’s the reason our hair is – as our hair dresser likes to point out at our annual appointment – dehydrated.
And now we're starting to incorporate yogurt everywhere we can – in sauces, smoothies, on our face.
YOU CAN ALSO USE THIS SMOOTHIE AS A FACE MASK
And just in case you’re wondering – yes, we did put a spoonful of this smoothie on our face as a facial mask. Our skin felt smooth and hydrated.
