5 ways real food improves your looks

We are always fascinated by stories about how people have transformed their lives by changing the way they eat. Some lose a ton of weight, others overcome diseases and then there are those who get productive, start their own business and get their whole life together.

Aaaand we don’t know about you, but we believe every single detail. ALL of it.

(us when people share what happened after they start eating healthy (little hairier than usual)):

…maybe we are naive and we believe everything people tell us.

Yes, we definitely at the age of 27 years and 52 months still believe Santa Claus exists.

But we also believe in science and in nature.

And sometimes nature does things science cannot explain.

That is why some scientists are still scratching their heads and wondering whether or not eating more fruits and vegetables is actually a reliable way to go if you want to be healthy.

There is never enough EVIDENCE!!!

We personally am convinced that diet can change your health, your mood, your productivity level and the way you look.

Let’s start with looks – not because we’re shallow, but because looking good is the first step to start being more confident and feeling good in your body. But also because the name of this blog is Gaical.

Here are five unbelievable ways eating healthy (means eating whole natural foods) can change your body and the way you look.

1. CLEAR SKIN

Skin that’s clearer than a teardrop of a baby unicorn is every girl’s dream, isn’t it? And a diet rich in fiber, antioxidants, and anti-inflammatory foods can give us just that – clear skin with a healthy glow.

When we say anti-inflammatory and antioxidant foods, it’s just a fancier way to say herbs, fruits, vegetables, spices, seeds and nuts – they should make the main part of your diet.

It will not happen overnight, but if you stay on track for more than a week and get the crap out of your diet COMPLETELY – refined, processed foods like sweets, pastries, skim milk and anything with sugar you should already be noticing a difference.

2. WRINKLE-FREE FACE

One of the most fascinating things we've ever learned is that food can actually slow down, stop and even somewhat reverse the formation of wrinkles! Like, really?

Oh, yes it can.

It turns out even We with our dry skin can moisturize and keep our skin wrinkle free from the inside out!

Wish we knew that 10 years ago – we would’ve been sipping on smoothies bursting with Vitamin C, E and A all our life instead of stuffing donuts and croissants down our throat.

These vitamins make a powerful antioxidant combo and not only stop free radicals from destroying precious cell structures, but vitamin C also increases the formation of collagen – and collagen is all we want.

You’ve got collagen, you’re wrinkle free.

You can easily get enough of these vitamins from food by adding more fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds to your diet.

3. STRONG NAILS LIKE WOLVERINE

Ok, we all know Wolverine has blades coming out of the back of his hands, not actually nails. He’s not a cat, like catman, he’s Hugh Jackman. We don’t think those blades look good, but hey – better blades than brittle nails.

Well, if you’re looking for strong nails, that don’t break, but shine bright like diamonds – you need to get enough Biotin.

Biotin is a B-Vitamin and is found in many foods, but only a few have lots of it – avocado, peanuts, bananas, dark leafy greens. Not gross right?

Biotin is a magical beauty nutrient and is important for the metabolism of fatty acids, amino acids and glucose. It is believed to make not only nails but also skin and hair look great.

4. LONG SHINY HAIR

You think long, healthy, shiny hair is only for the majestic creatures from Our little pony?

We used to think the same.

Now we know long shiny hair is not just for ponys.

You can’t, of course, change your genetics, but by eating right you can do a lot.

For example, if you’re not getting enough nutrients like iron and biotin from your diet, then your hair might be dry, brittle, spliced and be 60 shades of gray.

Make sure you eat lots of dark green vegetables, nuts, whole grains, from time to time red meat if you’re not vegetarian. And whatever you do – don’t drink coffee right before or after that – it inhibits iron absorption.

You should instead combine these foods with vitamin C rich foods. This way you can absorb some more plant-iron and on top produce yourself some collagen. Long silky hair and a young face – sounds good to us!

5. LEAN AND SLIM

BAM! Diet can help you lose weight and get a lean, slim body.

Brand new information.

Yes, soak it all up.

Losing weight and more importantly losing fat is one of the main reasons people would change the way they eat (including us, our whole family, friends and random people we see in the streets and start interviewing out of nowhere).

Diet is the most important factor when it comes to losing weight. You can try losing weight by optimizing your training, sleeping, meditating, staring at the stars and drawing butterflies, but the only thing that will help you actually lose that stubborn belly fat is eating right and not eating all the time.

A balanced diet that has enough protein, and is rich in fruits and vegetables can help you not simply lose weight, but also build lean muscles.

6. A BONUS – GET YOUR ORANGE TAN NATURALLY– FINALLY!

This would be a natural and SAFE way to finally get the orange glow we ALL want. No more spending time and money on the sun bank, no more spray tanning, no more sun bathing. That’s all dangerous and in the past.

It’s time for the new thing – carotenemia. Sounds like a disease, right?

Well kinda. It’s a condition you get when you eat too many carotenoid-rich foods like carrots, tomatoes, spinach and all that good stuff. It doesn’t bear any risks and it makes your skin perfectly orange, which is everyone’s dream.

The reason why the skin becomes orange when we eat too many carotenoid-rich foods is that the carotenoids are not only antioxidants but also pigments in the plant and they work similarly in the human body: they dye your skin as if it was an Easter egg.

This condition will not affect your health and is completely safe and reversible. If you don’t like the orange look then you can simply stop eating tons of carrots and you’ll go back to normal.

But until then you’ll look like you went to the sun and back. Like the warm version of an avatar. And you wouldn’t even have burned one skin cell. Isn’t that notable?

FINAL THOUGHTS

So there you have it! These were just some examples of how eating whole foods can affect your body, especially the way you look.
