Embracing a New Chapter: My First Day at Anytime Fitness Corporate

Today marked the beginning of an incredibly exciting new chapter in my professional journey, a day I’ve eagerly anticipated since accepting an offer months ago. My morning began with purpose, rising promptly at 6 AM, fueled by a wholesome bowl of overnight oats before heading straight to the gym for an invigorating workout. Post-sweat session, I showered, donned a favorite dress and comfortable flats, taking a moment to prepare not just my appearance, but also my mindset, for what lay ahead.

The anticipation was palpable, because today was my inaugural day of work at Anytime Fitness Corporate, stepping into the dynamic role of Online Communications and Social Media Specialist. This moment represents the culmination of a journey, a testament to dedication, and the power of connection.

A celebratory high-five gesture, symbolizing excitement for a new career chapter.

Indeed, a triumphant high five is in order! My excitement for this day has been building ever since I officially accepted this role back in March. It’s truly remarkable to reflect on the path that led me here, tracing back through old blog posts that chronicle my evolving relationship with the Anytime Fitness brand. What started as a simple online interaction blossomed into a significant career opportunity.

My Journey with Anytime Fitness: A Social Media Success Story

The story of how I came to join the Anytime Fitness corporate team is a compelling narrative that highlights the incredible potential of digital engagement and personal branding. It’s a journey woven through several key milestones:

  • March 2011: My initial engagement with Anytime Fitness began when I was invited to contribute as a blogger for AnytimeHealth.com. This opportunity allowed me to share my passion for health and wellness with a broader audience, fostering a deeper connection with the fitness community.
  • March 1st, 2011: I penned my very first post for the Anytime Health blog, titled “The Power of a Balanced Life.” This article explored the critical balance between physical activity, nutrition, and mental well-being, themes that would continue to resonate throughout my work. It was a foundational piece that set the tone for my contributions.
  • October 2011: A pivotal moment arrived when I attended the Anytime Fitness Conference in Washington D.C. This event provided an invaluable opportunity to connect with industry leaders, learn about the latest trends, and truly immerse myself in the Anytime Fitness culture. During the conference, I was honored to win an inspiration award on behalf of Fit Foodie Finds, a recognition that underscored the impact of my online presence and dedication to promoting a healthy lifestyle.
  • January 2012: Building on my growing relationship with the company, I embarked on a semester-long internship with Anytime Fitness. This practical experience was instrumental in deepening my understanding of their operations, particularly within the digital communications sphere, and allowed me to contribute to various projects.
  • March 2012: The culmination of these experiences came when I received and accepted a full-time offer from Anytime Fitness, to serve as an Online Health Communication and Social Media Specialist. This was a dream come true, validating years of effort and aligning perfectly with my career aspirations.

What a remarkable story it has been! It’s still hard to believe that a seemingly simple Tweet about oatmeal could ultimately spark the trajectory of my career. This journey truly exemplifies the transformative power of social media and authentic online engagement. Before fully diving into this exciting new chapter of my life, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the personal and professional goals I meticulously set for myself at the beginning of this year.

Reflecting on My 2012 Goals: Achievements and Aspirations

As the year progresses and I embark on this significant new phase, it’s an opportune time to revisit the list of goals I established for 2012 and assess my progress. This exercise provides valuable insight into my growth and helps recalibrate my focus.

  1. Graduate from University

Initial Goal: This was always a definite milestone for 2012, simply requiring me to see my academic journey through to its natural conclusion. May 13th, 2012, was circled on my calendar as the momentous day to officially close one chapter and eagerly open another.

Current Status: Achieved! I proudly graduated from the University of Minnesota just a few weeks ago. The sense of accomplishment is immense, marking the successful completion of my academic pursuits and paving the way for my professional life. Click HERE for a detailed recap of graduation day.

  2. Secure a Full-Time Job

Initial Goal: My heart was set on a particular company, and I deeply hoped they would recognize the synergy between our missions – particularly our shared commitment to helping people become healthier and better versions of themselves. I was confident I could be the perfect fit.

Current Status: Achieved! Today marked my very first day at Anytime Fitness, my first “real” professional job! This accomplishment is a huge step forward, confirming that perseverance and aligning oneself with a company whose values resonate truly pays off. It’s incredibly rewarding to be part of a team dedicated to making a positive impact on people’s lives.

  3. Find a Safe New Home Post-Graduation

Initial Goal: The desire was to find a new living space that would provide a sense of safety and comfort as I transitioned into post-graduation life, creating a sanctuary to call my own.

Current Status: Achieved! Triple check! I’ve successfully found and settled into a wonderful new place that feels perfectly safe and welcoming. It’s a fantastic foundation for this new phase of my life, offering both peace of mind and inspiration. Click HERE to see photos of my new home!

  4. Start a Small Business

Initial Goal: While perhaps a long shot for the immediate future, I strongly believe in dreaming big and exploring entrepreneurial ventures. The aspiration to create something of my own was, and remains, a powerful motivator.

Current Status: In Progress. This goal is still very much a work in progress, but the ideas are certainly brewing. I have several promising concepts I’m actively developing and refining, fueled by passion and a desire to innovate. Stay tuned for exciting updates on this front!

  5. Engage in Daily Physical Activity

Initial Goal: My aim was to ensure daily physical activity was a consistent part of my routine, specifically recognizing the need to incorporate more simple activities like walking into my busy schedule.

Current Status: Achieved! I’ve managed to integrate consistent physical activity into my life quite successfully. Beyond my regular workouts, I even achieved my Yoga Sculpt Certification, which has deepened my understanding and practice of fitness, making daily movement a joyous habit rather than a chore.

  6. Cultivate Meaningful Friendships and Relationships

Initial Goal: This goal emphasized the importance of fostering deep, authentic connections with people in my life, moving beyond superficial interactions to build lasting bonds.

Current Status: Achieved! This goal has truly blossomed. I am incredibly fortunate to be dating the man of my dreams, and I honestly couldn’t ask for a more supportive, understanding, and wonderful best friend. These meaningful connections enrich my life immeasurably.

  7. Adopt My First Dog

Initial Goal: Owning a dog has always been a heartfelt aspiration, something I felt was an inevitable part of my future. The joy and companionship a furry friend brings are highly coveted.

Current Status: Deferred. While the desire is still strong, now simply isn’t the ideal time. With a new job and new living arrangements, ensuring I can provide the best possible environment for a pet is paramount, and I look forward to when the timing is truly right.

  8. Complete a Marathon or Triathlon

Initial Goal: I have always held a personal mental barrier against running a marathon, viewing 26.2 miles as an almost unthinkable distance. Yet, the idea of conquering such a challenge and achieving this incredible accomplishment remains deeply compelling.

Current Status: In Progress. I’m still working diligently to build up my endurance and mental fortitude for this significant undertaking. It requires dedicated training and a strong resolve, but the aspiration to achieve this monumental feat continues to motivate me.

  9. Cherish My Family

Initial Goal: No matter where life takes us, or how dispersed my family becomes across the nation, I committed to never, not even for a single second, forgetting the profound importance and amazing nature of my family. Mom, Dad, Clay, and my sister – you mean the world to me.

Current Status: Achieved! My love and appreciation for my family remain as strong and unwavering as ever. Despite geographical distances, our bonds are incredibly resilient, and they continue to be an invaluable source of strength and joy in my life.

  10. Embrace Continuous Learning

Initial Goal: To learn as much as possible, constantly seeking knowledge and growth in all aspects of life.

Current Status: Achieved! This goal is a continuous process that I am actively embracing. From diving deep into my new role to exploring new skills and insights, I am committed to perpetual learning and personal development. This mindset is crucial for both professional advancement and personal enrichment.

Additional Priorities for a Balanced and Fulfilling Life

Beyond these foundational goals, I’ve identified several additional priorities that are crucial for maintaining well-being and fostering a fulfilling life as I navigate new responsibilities:

  1. Work-Life Balance (WLB)

I am inherently the type of person who can easily become stressed and overwhelmed by responsibilities. Therefore, a conscious and proactive focus on achieving a healthy work-life balance is absolutely paramount. It’s not just about managing time; it’s about protecting my mental and emotional health. Recognizing the importance of “me time” – whether it’s for relaxation, hobbies, or simply recharging – is key to sustaining energy and creativity in my new role and beyond. I plan to set clear boundaries and prioritize activities that contribute to my overall well-being.

  2. Budget, Budget, Budget: Financial Prudence

Financial responsibility is a cornerstone of adult life, and diligent budgeting is essential. My goal is to save, save, save. This involves meticulously tracking my income and expenses, making informed financial decisions, and building a strong foundation for future security. Cultivating smart spending habits will be critical in achieving both short-term savings goals and long-term financial independence.

  3. Embrace a Minimalist Lifestyle

This objective closely aligns with my budgeting goals but extends beyond mere financial saving. My aspiration is to genuinely embrace a simple lifestyle, focusing on needs rather than accumulating excessive possessions. It’s about decluttering my life, both physically and mentally, to create more space for what truly matters. By only acquiring what I genuinely need and appreciate, I aim to reduce stress, promote mindful consumption, and live more intentionally.

Surprises After My First Day: A Taste of Brand Partnerships

On a more delightful and somewhat random note, imagine my surprise and pleasure when I arrived home from my very first day of work to discover two glorious packages awaiting me! One was a thoughtful delivery from Chobani, and the other from Gold n’ Plump Chicken. What a fantastic welcome and a reminder of the exciting brand partnerships and perks that come with working in the industry! It felt like an extra celebration to cap off an already momentous day.
