Hello, wonderful readers! What an exciting week it is shaping up to be. My partner, sister, and our youngest travel companion embarked on an early morning adventure, heading north towards the serene wilderness. Our destination for a much-anticipated long weekend is the majestic Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCA). For those unfamiliar with this incredible gem, the BWCA is a vast, pristine area located in northeastern Minnesota, renowned for its interconnected lakes and rivers, perfect for canoeing and camping. It’s an opportunity to truly disconnect from the daily grind, immerse ourselves in nature, and recharge our spirits. I am incredibly grateful my sister is joining us; her company always makes these trips even more memorable and enjoyable.
Our journey begins with a delightful overnight stay in Grand Marais, Minnesota, a charming artistic harbor town nestled on the shores of Lake Superior. We’re settled into the adorable MacArthur House B&B, a perfect blend of comfort and local charm. Coincidentally, my friend Linley and some of her companions are also exploring the Boundary Waters this weekend, so we’re looking forward to catching up over a few refreshing beers. Come Friday morning, we will fully venture into the heart of the Boundary Waters, portaging from Tuscarora Lake.
